What Is Fiasp® (Insulin Aspart Injection) 100 U/mL?
Fiasp® is prescription medication and man-made insulin that is commonly used to manage high blood sugar levels in adults and children with diabetes.

Usage
Since Fiasp® is a fast acting insulin, that enters the bloodstream i approximately 2.5 minutes. You should take it at the start of your meal or within 20 minutes after starting your meal.
Understand the strength and type of your insulin. Do not change your insulin type unless instructed otherwise by your doctor.
Do not use the same spot for injections. It’s important to rotate injection sites to reduce the risk of any skin irritations, getting pits in the skin, thickened skin (lipodystrophy) and lumps (localized cutaneous amyloidosis).
Do not inject where skin appears to be bruised, tender, hard, scaly or damaged.
Monitor your blood levels carefully if you miss a dose until your next meal.
Your health care practitioner should instruct you about what your blood sugar levels should be when checked.
Do not share or reuse needles with others as this can lead to spreading serious infections or lead to serious health risks.
When using Fiasp®, you should avoid:
- Operating heavy machinery until you understand how the medication affects you
- Do not consume alcohol or use other medications
Side Effects
- Low blood sugar (hypoglycemia)
- Mood changes such as anxiety, irritability
- Light-headedness, dizziness, confusion or headaches
- Low potassium in blood (hypokalemia)
- Sweating
- Allergic reactions. You should seek medical attention immediately if you are seeing any serious allergic reactions such as getting a rash all over your body, trouble breathing, increased heartbeat, dizziness, confusion, swelling of the face/tongue/throat, extreme drowsiness and sweating.
- Skin problems such as eczema, rashes, itching or redness
- Fluid retention and heart failure. This can be caused by taking certain diabetes medication such as TZDs TZDs (thiazolidinediones) with Fiasp®. Your health care provider should monitor you carefully if you are taking Fiasp® with TZDs. If heart failure occurs, your doctor should either adjust the dosage or discontinuation of TZD should be considered.
Ketoacidosis and rapid onset of hyperglycemia can result from pump or infusion set malfunctions.
Prompt identification and correction of the cause of hyperglycemia or ketoacidosis is necessary.
Interim therapy with subcutaneous injection of Fiasp® may be required. Patients using continuous subcutaneous insulin infusion pump therapy must be trained to administer insulin by injection and have alternate insulin therapy available in case of pump failure.
Let your doctor know if you are experiencing any new or worse symptoms of heart failure including swelling of ankles or feet, unexpected weight gain or sudden shortness of breath.
Your doctor may change your dosage if you are showing any symptoms or serious side effects.
Warnings & Safety Information
Even if the needle has been changed, Fiasp insulin vials should not be shared with other people as it can spread serious infections or put yourself at risk of getting an infection.
Risks
You should not take Fiasp® Insulin if:
- You have an allergy to any of its ingredients
- Your blood sugar levels are too low (hypoglycemia)
- Are pregnant, breastfeeding or planning to become pregnant. It has been documented that Fiasp® can pass through breast milk.
- Are currently taking any prescription medications or over-the-counter medicines (this may also include supplements).
- Have kidney or liver problems
Adverse Reactions
